The first law of thermodynamics whimsically states ,”you cant get….” This implies that unless you supply heat to a system you can not get work done.This is conservation of energy i.e first law.
The second law as ,”you can not even break even”. This means that there cannot be a heat engine operating with a source and a sink, which can have an efficiency of hundred percent.Even the Carnot engine which is an ideal engine is not cent percent efficient.
